A Paper Master. Reflections Around Fabrizio Cruciani’s Theatrical Thinking
Abstract
Francesca Romana Rietti examines several works by Cruciani and retraces the constant elements in his thinking, the cardinal points of his historiographical analysis and his pedagogical vocation, starting from the echoes produced by his work in the scholarly world.

Francesca Romana Rietti teaches History and Culture of Theatre Spaces at Roma Tre University. She has studied the physical mime of Étienne Decroux and, in particular, his pupil Jean-Louis Barrault (about whom she published the book Jean-Louis Barrault. Artigianato teatrale, Rome, Bulzoni, 2010), theatrical pedagogy and the dramaturgy of the actor. In 2008, together with Mirella Schino and Valentina Tibaldi, she founded the Odin Teatret Archives, with which she still collaborates. In February 2015, part of the original documents preserved at the Odin Teatret Archives were acquired by the Royal Library in Copenhagen <www.db.dk>. From 1996 to 2003, she was part of the international pedagogical project The Bridge of Winds, directed and founded by actress Iben Nagel Rasmussen, and between 2000 and 2004, she was literary consultant to the Danish Teatret Om, with whom she resumed working in 2018, curating archival projects. She has been collaborating with “L'Indice dei Libri del Mese” since 2013 and has been a member of the editorial committee of “Teatro e Storia” since 2014.
