An Invisible Microcosm in “The Mask”: “The Society of Wood Engravers of San Leonardo”
Abstract
The images too are part of the education in the Art of the Theatre. Simona Silvestri tackles this aspect in the short report on the Society of Engravers of San Leonardo, the community that Craig gathers around him in Florence and that he involves in various ways in his projects for the theatre. Basing her study on unpublished epistolary exchanges, Silvestri shows certain processes of transmission of graphic art, the relations between the artists involved and their contribution to the first numbers of “The Mask”.
