The Ghost Island of “The Mask”. The Craig-Lees Collaboration and the Strategies of Diffusion of the Journal
Abstract
Gabriele Sofia analyses the way in which the material conditions of production and diffusion of “The Mask” determined the editorial slant and the selection of content. To this end, Sofia examines the role of Dorothy Nevile Lees, Craig’s closest collaborator, whose work on editing, translation, organisation and writing, which for a long time was considered to be of secondary importance, guaranteed the popularity and longevity that distinguished the journal (1908-1929).
